Usually, ants are only a nuisance when they invade indoor spaces, but they also make trouble outdoors. According to the University of California, these ant species are of the greatest concern .
- Argentine ants
- Pharaoh ants
- Pavement ants
- Odorous house ants
- Native southern fire ants
- Red imported fire ants
- Velvety tree ants
- Carpenter ants
- Thief ants
Signs of Ant Infestations
If ants are living around your house, you might notice anthills in your lawn or long trails of foraging workers roaming across your sidewalk, driveway or living spaces. Since most ants search for sweets, protein and fat, they’re often found in kitchens and areas where food is stored or prepared.
Ants enter through openings around doors, vents, utility lines and foundations. Most infestations that do not involve fire ants are only addressed after members of the colony have found their way indoors, so a robust strategy is needed to eliminate the problem. Since baits take time to work, it’s important to remove food sources, to seal cracks and to clean pheromone-laced ant trails.
Treatment Methods for Ant Infestations
With the range of liquid, gel and solid baits that are available today, we can successfully target all nuisance species whether they are living beneath your home, in your yard or behind your walls. To be effective, the bait must be transported back to the colony and the queen. Otherwise, the problem will return. Our products accomplish this and have minimal impact on the environment because they are used in such small amounts. Most baits contain a slow-acting toxicant that gives the workers time to infect the rest of the colony. When appropriate, products that contain an insect growth regulator can be used instead. Our experienced technicians will assess your property and recommend a treatment plan that addresses the problem while protecting your children and pets.
